Vamein butterfly valves are quarter-turn assemblies that can be used either for isolation or as modulating devices to regulate flow.

The range includes wafer, lugged and flanged designs with resilient seating options. Standard valves are available from nominal diameters of 50mm (2") up to 1200mm (48"), and Vamein can build larger valves up to 2000mm (80") on request, while PTFE-seated valves are available in wafer configuration from 50mm (2") up to 300mm (12").

Depending on configuration, the valves are available for working pressures up to 16 bar (230 psi), with operating temperatures ranging from -40°C (-40°F) to 180°C (356°F).

The valve design provides a low pressure drop through the valve, helping to minimise the torque required for operation. Components are manufactured to close tolerances and are designed for interchangeability.

Vamein valves are designed in compliance with API 609, with manufacturing processes certified to ISO 9001:2015. Components are identified with manufacturing code numbers to provide traceability of materials and manufacture.

The valves meet the requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU and are available for applications covered by ATEX 2014/34/EU where the appropriate configuration is specified.

Operation can be by lever, handwheel or actuator. IPT can also supply automated valve packages using suitable electric actuators, including the Beck range.

Wafer

100 Series. DN50 to DN2000. Up to DN300, one valve fits PN6, PN10, PN16, ANSI 125/150 and BS 10 Table D/E flanges. 16 bar to DN300, 10 bar above.

Wafer Light

160 Series. DN50 to DN300, 10 bar. A lighter, economical valve for irrigation, air conditioning and swimming pool installations.

Flanged

200 Series. DN100 to DN2000. Integral flange drilling for fast, accurate alignment. 16 bar to DN300, 10 bar above, -45 to +200°C.

Lug

500 Series. DN50 to DN600. Threaded lugs hold the valve to one flange, so pipework downstream can be removed for repairs.

Galactic

DN50 to DN300, wafer or lug. PTFE liner and PFA-encapsulated disc for corrosive and aggressive fluids, vacuum to 16 bar, -40 to +200°C.

Seat Liner Materials

Only the disc and the liner touch the fluid, so the liner is chosen for the medium and temperature. Running close to a liner’s temperature limit shortens its life.

Who supplies Vamein butterfly valves in the UK?

IPT Engineering supplies Vamein butterfly valves in the UK, with lever, gearbox or actuator operation. Valves up to DN350 are typically delivered in about 10 days. For a quotation, tell us the size, body style, seat material and working pressure.

What is the difference between a wafer and a lug butterfly valve?

A wafer valve is clamped between two pipe flanges by long bolts. A lug valve has threaded lugs, so it is bolted to each flange separately and can stay in place when the pipework on one side is removed.

Can a lug butterfly valve be used at the end of a line?

Only occasionally, and not with a cast iron body. Vamein limits end-of-line pressure to 5.6 bar for DN50 to DN150 and 3.5 bar for DN200 to DN600, and the line should be reconnected before normal service.

Which seat material do I need?

It depends on the medium and temperature. EPDM suits water and air up to about 100°C, NBR suits oils and fuels, Viton suits hydrocarbons and higher temperatures up to 180°C, and PTFE (Galactic) suits corrosive chemicals. Tell us the duty and we will confirm the choice.

Do Vamein butterfly valves need flange gaskets?

No. The liner seals directly against the pipe flanges, so no additional gaskets are needed.

Can I fit an actuator to a manual valve later?

Yes. The top flange is to ISO 5211, so a standard electric or pneumatic actuator can be fitted on site in place of the lever or gearbox.

What pressures and sizes are available?

Standard valves run from DN50 (2”) to DN1200 (48”), and Vamein can build up to DN2000 (80”) on request. They are rated 16 bar up to DN300 and 10 bar above. Higher pressures and other drilling standards are available on request.

How quickly can you deliver?

Vamein butterfly valves up to DN350 are available from stock and typically delivered in about 10 days. Larger sizes are available; please ask and we will confirm the lead time with your quotation.

Are ATEX valves available?

Yes. Vamein valves can be supplied for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. Tell us the zone when you ask for a quotation.
